It has been a lovely weekend with blue skies and bright sun. Saturday we cleared out the rest of the weeds from the back vegetable garden bed. We haven’t had huge success growing in that garden but the weeds certainly do well. We put our raked leaves in the garden last fall and a nice dark layer of soil has resulted.
This morning I had an amazing row out on the water. A gray whale had been spotted earlier in the day but I unfortunately missed it. What an amazing treat to know we were sharing the water this morning.
A quick stop at the market resulted in fresh asparagus, apples, turnips, onions, and radish.
I am trying a test spot of trench composting. We have significant rodent and raccoon activity in the area so I dug a pit 12″ deep and buried some vegetable scrapes and some coffee grounds. Hopefully it stays buried and doesn’t attract our local wildlife.
I hope you all enjoyed your weekend!
